Day #26

Had a wonderful day yesterday... we moved to a LUXURIOUS apartment!! :) There's a Canadian man that has some kind of missionary project and lives in Kiev and also owns an apartment here in Kryvyi Rih that he rents out very cheap to missionary type people, adoptive parents etc. it is where Allen and Kristi were staying. They got there last piece of paperwork Friday and were heading to Kiev on Sunday and had told us earlier they would get us hooked up with owner so we could stay here when they left. They couldn't get train tickets out Sunday so ended up leaving Saturday. After our visit Saturday I made supper and we took it down to them and then helped watch Marina while they got around. Went home and finished packing up our stuff and then brought a load back and got keys before they left cause we weren't spending another night on that couch! :) AHHH this BED felt so good! My feet didn't hang out the end and had regular pillows and and and. Was good to get to know Allen's and have the interaction with other Americans while here! :) They are hoping to leave for Georgia Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
We are gong to save $350 by moving here and not only that it is bigger and SOO much nicer and CLEANER!!! Life just looks brighter :-)) The cleaning guy came today and he is just a HOOT! He's just a little simple and VERY animated! Ed Dickson (owner of apartment) is paying for him to learn English and he is so proud of it:) He had to show me his study book and all what he is learning. Can't help but like the guy, he's a little short guy with a high squeaky voice :) But boy can he clean!!! He was in the shower (BTW it is a huge tub with a shower, a real to honest shower!) just a scrubbing and wiping down every nook and cranny then he was darting around here and there rolling up the rugs, washing the floors on his hands and knees... We gave him a tip when he left and he did all kinds of jigs and bows and faces :)
Besides two visits with Kody and phoning in Bill's cousins wedding this eve. was a pretty non eventful day. Was beautiful outside! Was below freezing Thursday night/Friday morning so felt good to have some warm weather again! Just keep hoping we can make it without having to buy coats here! Getting pretty worried about getting everything in our luggage and home! :-/
Wishing you all a wonderful week! I know we will :) Finally getting used to the food and water and culture and all the differences and now that we can stay at a nicer apartment and Kody gets more used to us every day... Life Is Good!! :)
Good-Night

  4. I'll say! Life is grand, eh?! Glad to hear things are improving and glad you got to listen to the wedding! Heidi is counting the days! Does she need to bring you anything? I have no clue at this point what her luggage will be like, if she will have room or not, but sure she wouldn't mind if there is something you are desperate for! (and it's not too heavy!)
